FakeShamus (Shamus Clisset) is the Manifest Destinaut; a digital golem, polygonal doofus explorer, Chaos Pilgrim, bringer of Non Future Totems, usurper and Lost Raver in the Meh-taverse, with vapor fingers: infinite and untraceable…
Working with digital media since the mid 90s, Shamus creates 3D renderings, animations, and simulations in a range of styles from hyper-real to hyper-fake. His work is a virtual mash-up of violent imagery, frontier iconography, pop culture and historical references, and his own obscure lusts and obsessions. Themes of apocalypse, misguided bravado, the illusion of control, and tragedies of ambition and (non)progress, are all refracted through the prism of mass media, building an absurdist critique of our contemporary digital wasteland.
Back before the days of the CERN-Fracture, best you could do was mint an old bRainwav-Connect Tweet and make a couple $Ten-Milly, which was fine for the times (calculating for inflation). But the first wormhole that opened up really got people’s FOMO itchin. Now Everybro who mints a fresh particle splits off a new dimension, burning several petawatts of energy and killing ~eh~ 1.1B people in the process, but the value in hallucinogenics harvested is worth it.
