Hypertextual Consciousness [Beta-Version]

In 1995, Mark Amerika released his first major work of net art on the WWW, Hypertextual Consciousness [Beta-Version]. The work, also known as HTC, was an immediate sensation and exhibited widely all around the world attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.

HTC was eventually enfolded into GRAMMATRON, a seminal work of net art included in the Whitney Biennial of American Art.

Dream Cum True Web

Dream Cum True is an 84-minute video art loop that Amerika describes as a "long form meditation" that explicitly refers to an "erotic time" that coats his daily practice while living in Kailua, Hawaii. The work consists of a series of charged poetic phrases that wash ashore on a sea of phosphorus colors and are accompanied by a soundtrack featuring the rhythmic pulsations of the tide repeating its eternal return. The work has been included in Amerika’s solo exhibitions in Australia, Korea, and Hawaii and is being made available for purchase for the first time.
